 A Notary Public is an official appointed by the Secretary of State and authorized to serve the public as an unbiased witness when performing many legal formalities relating to the drafting or certifying of contracts, deeds, and other official documents. These official acts are called notarizations or notarial acts. 

 A Certified Loan Signing Agent is a commissioned Notary Public A Notary Public that has taken additional training to perform duties of a Certified Notary Loan Signing Agent. Loan Signing Agents (LSA) help borrowers with the loan process, including closing on a mortgage loan.  LSAs are certified to guide borrowers through the loan-signing documents and ensure that all paperwork is signed and notarized properly.
